Mississauga United FC is growing, and we are looking for passionate, responsible and motivated coaches to join our youth soccer programs.
We are currently recruiting coaches for our competitive teams, development programs and recreational programs in Mississauga. Opportunities are available for experienced, licensed coaches as well as enthusiastic individuals who are interested in beginning their coaching journey.
Whether you already have years of experience in competitive soccer or want to make your first contribution to grassroots development, Mississauga United FC offers an opportunity to develop players, strengthen our community and grow as a coach.
Help Shape the Next Generation of Players
A youth soccer coach does much more than organize drills and manage games. Coaches help young players build confidence, learn teamwork, develop discipline and discover a lifelong love of the game.
At Mississauga United FC, we believe every player deserves a positive and development-focused soccer environment. Our coaches are expected to support players at their current level while encouraging them to improve technically, tactically, physically and socially.
Success in youth soccer is not measured only by results. It is also reflected in a player’s confidence, effort, decision-making, enjoyment and willingness to return to the field each week.
We are looking for coaches who understand this responsibility and want to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young athletes.
Competitive Team Coaching Opportunities
Mississauga United FC is seeking qualified and licensed coaches for its competitive youth teams.
Competitive coaches should be able to create and deliver structured training sessions, establish clear team standards and support players throughout a full season of practices, games and tournaments. They must balance the desire to compete with the club’s long-term player-development objectives.
Depending on the team and level, competitive coaching responsibilities may include:
- Planning and delivering age-appropriate training sessions
- Developing players’ technical skills and game understanding
- Preparing teams for league games, exhibitions and tournaments
- Evaluating players and providing constructive feedback
- Communicating professionally with players, parents and club staff
- Following the club’s curriculum, technical direction and policies
- Maintaining a safe, respectful and inclusive team environment
- Participating in coach meetings, development sessions and club activities
Applicants should hold the appropriate coaching qualifications for the position or be actively working toward the required certification. Previous experience coaching competitive youth soccer is an asset.
We also welcome applications from former players and experienced coaches who want to continue their education and advance within an organized club environment.
Recreational Soccer Coaching Opportunities
Our recreational programs introduce children to soccer and help them develop skills in a fun, welcoming and active environment. Recreational coaches play an essential role in creating each child’s first impression of organized sport.
A recreational coach does not necessarily need extensive competitive coaching experience. A positive attitude, reliability, patience and the ability to connect with children are extremely important.
Recreational coaching responsibilities may include:
- Leading fun and engaging soccer activities
- Teaching fundamental skills such as dribbling, passing and shooting
- Organizing small-sided games
- Encouraging teamwork, respect and fair play
- Ensuring that every player remains involved
- Creating a safe and enjoyable learning environment
- Communicating clearly with parents and program coordinators
These positions may be suitable for aspiring coaches, university or college students, teachers, former players, community volunteers and individuals interested in youth development.
Training, guidance and mentoring may be available to help suitable candidates build their confidence and coaching knowledge.
Development and Target-Team Coaches
Mississauga United FC is also interested in coaches who can work with players progressing from recreational soccer toward more advanced development and competitive environments.
Development and target-team coaches must understand how to challenge ambitious players without losing the enjoyment and creativity that young athletes need. These programs require coaches who can identify individual needs, introduce more advanced soccer concepts and prepare players for future competitive opportunities.
The ideal coach can adapt activities to different learning speeds and help players understand both individual skills and team principles.
What We Look for in a Youth Soccer Coach
Coaching qualifications and soccer knowledge are important, but character is equally important.
We are looking for candidates who are:
- Passionate about youth soccer and player development
- Reliable, organized and punctual
- Positive and encouraging when working with young people
- Professional when communicating with families and colleagues
- Willing to follow club policies and technical direction
- Committed to player safety and respectful conduct
- Able to work collaboratively as part of a coaching team
- Interested in continued learning and professional development
All successful applicants must satisfy the club’s applicable screening, safeguarding and certification requirements before working with players. These requirements may include a Vulnerable Sector Check, Respect in Sport or Safe Sport education, first-aid training and the appropriate coaching licence for the assigned program.
Coaching Development and Support
Mississauga United FC wants its coaches to keep learning.
Coaches may receive support through mentorship, session planning, technical guidance, practical observation and coach-development opportunities. We want coaches to understand what they are teaching, why they are teaching it and how each activity connects to the game.
For newer coaches, this means receiving direction as they develop their skills. For experienced coaches, it means having opportunities to contribute their knowledge, collaborate with colleagues and take on greater responsibility.
Our objective is to build a strong coaching team with shared values and a consistent approach to player development.
We Welcome Coaches from Diverse Backgrounds
Mississauga is one of Canada’s most diverse communities, and our coaching staff should reflect the families and players we serve.
We encourage applications from qualified candidates of all backgrounds. We are especially interested in creating more opportunities for female coaches, young aspiring coaches, former players and multilingual community members.
The ability to connect with families from different cultures and experiences can be a valuable strength in a community-based soccer club.
